Kennedy-Lugar YES Scholarship

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Kennedy-Lugar YES Abroad scholarship sends 55 American high school students to countries with large Muslim populations including :
Bosnia & Herzegovnia, Egypt*, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Mali*, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Thailand, and Turkey. Students live with host families, attend school, learn about the host country's culture, learn the language, and help educate others about American culture.

YES Abroad was established in 2007 as an extension of the YES program which provides students from countries with large Muslim populations to spend up to a year in the United States. Both these programs seek to provide mutual understanding between Americans and countries with large Muslim populations and intercultural understanding.
